How is beer like chicken?

As I noted the other day, dark meat is better than white meat. As it turns out, there is a similar relationship between sorts of beer. Dark beer is better than white beer.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good wheat beer every now and then. Especially in the summer time. But I recently rediscovered how much I enjoy a dunkel. Dunkels are German dark lagers and they are pretty pretty good.
Purchased one slab of Special Dark:
Price $29+
Paid: Two $10 notes, one $5 note, two $2 notes, one 50¢ coin
Response: The twos gave the cashier a bit of trouble. After counting the monies, she had to double and triple check to make sure I’d given her enough.

The Damaged Freight Outlet (where I got my air freshener) has all kinds of fun things. Most of them are food. For lunches in the past, I have purchased cans of soup and cups o’ noodles there. Yesterday, however, I just needed some crackers to eat with some leftover ham salad.
I found some Mexican style water crackers that should do quite nicely. The box didn’t have any English except the words “Water Crackers” and “Plano, Texas.”
Before I got to the register, I passed the breakfast cereal and noticed Monday brand Berry Mix. What made Monday Cereal stand out was all of the Hebrew writing on the box. Even though it is made in the Mid-West, this cereal was apparently intended for consumption in the Mid-East. Fortunately for me, it never made it to port.
Purchased crackers, cereal and two dented cans of black cherry soda pop:
Price: $3.48
Paid: One $2 note, one $1 coin (Taylor), one 50¢ coin (bicentennial)
Response: (While holding up the two) “I haven’t seen one of these in a while.”
“Really?” I said, “I see them all the time.”
Misunderstanding

It has been argued that since Federal Reserve Notes are all the same size and color, the visually impaired are unfairly discriminated against. In fact, a four-year legal battle in the early 2000′s resulted in a court order that the Federal Reserve modify the notes so that they can be distinguished by feel. To date, as far as I can tell, there has been no progress made in this field.
Apparently, being blind isn’t the only source of trouble. I have reason to believe that a donut shop employee recently made an error in identifying some coins that I used.
Purchased one apple fritter:
Price: $1.09
Paid: One $1 coin (Jackson) and one 50¢ coin
Response: I noticed that she took some time to inspect the coins, but I was distracted by a sign that indicated that I could get a great deal on day-old donuts. When I inspected the contents of my pocket later, I found 91¢ (the amount of change I would have received if I’d paid $2 instead of $1.50.) I suspect that the cashier mistook the JFK half dollar for an old Eisenhower dollar and gave me extra change as a result.
